Municipalities are advancing ambitious Climate Action Plans that commit to science-based greenhouse gas reductions and identifying and acting on their community climate impacts. Implementing the Climate Action Plans on existing budgets poses a significant barrier to climate action advancement. In this webinar, James Byrne and Shannon Miedema spoke to council deliberations and decisions towards climate levy considerations in Peterborough and Halifax respectively. Alina Cheng spoke to a City of Vancouver fee-based climate emergency parking program, that although not approved by council, provided significant insights from the public engagement and feedback received.
